This book is a worthy successor to the author's previous book on the topic. Both the state of driver-less cars and and the author's understanding of the disruption they will bring have matured -- enabling the book to help me thinking about the massive disruption on the horizon.I was particularly impressed with succinct statements such as:"America doesn’t have a congestion problem; it has a single-occupancy vehicle problem."I never thought about it like that, but the book includes some great visuals to help you along there.After reading the book, it really gets you to thinking about this and many other issues such as "who will lose jobs?" "who will benefit?" "should my cousin become a trucker?" just to name a few.Overall an great, easy and informative read...

Wow! This book does a phenomenal job at breaking down a massive vision into easily digestible parts of how to reduce traffic congestion, safety concerns and improve the economics of moving all types of people from one destination to the next. Rutt does a great job at thinking through all the stakeholders who will benefit (and some who won't, like EMTs and injury attorneys) and presents a plan for FREE rides for people during rush hour.The cool thing is although he presents a 10-year vision, I believe we have the power as a society to enact a lot of his ideas around public private partnerships to validate his vision and get to a radically improved way to live. I'm excited to see what the future will bring!

I'm no techno-geek, but this book was really easy to read and understand, though I admit I just read the chapters and a couple of the appendices. I have a lot of friends who use buses and they're always complaining about how long it takes (round trip, including getting to and from bus stops and sometimes changing buses) and the "weird" people they sometimes run into. It seems like this guy has some new ideas that could make it a lot better for everyone. I think it's worth a read, and hope someone can make this happen.Lord knows, nothing else we've tried has made congestion anything but worse!

The “autonomous” car is a critical part of our future and is impacting almost every industry in our country. The author has researched the topic to remarkable degree and presents the options ahead of us in a clear & concise manner and with great graphics. It is truly a “must read” for all.

Rutt Bridges second book about driverless vehicles, Our Driverless Future: Heaven or Hell?... expands on the concepts he outlines in the first book Driverless Car Revolution: Buy Mobility Not Metal. The book works equally well for a reader who has only a passing interest or the reader who wants to dive deeply into the details. As he says, “it’s a choose you own reading adventure!” I’m an admitted public policy geek who has wondered for years how we can fix a transit system where too often there is one lonely rider as on the same sized bus packed to the gills only a few streets over. Rutt’s book paints a picture of the future with words, graphics and numbers. There will be bumps on our road to a driverless future but this book will help you see what’s coming and that is half the battle.

A book that challenges unto be proactive about our future. It provides both an entertaining read and the appropriate and extensive appendix to provide factualness to the claims made in the book.
