I am a seasoned cake baker and I learned a lot from this book and it started with the attachment (beater )she used to beat the butter as well as the type of butter used. The author is a lot younger than me and yet I could totally relate to the pictures and comments she made about her family and their recipes. You can't go wrong with this book even if you are not a "seasoned baker"' just follow her directions. The 7 Up cake was the best I've ever made.

Go ahead and judge this book by its cover. The cake pictured on the front is a good representation of what you will find inside - sensation. And inside the front cover is just as telling. There is a special place provided to personalize the book with the name of the “FIRST GENERATION to own this book” followed by lines for future generations to claim ownership! The book is all about celebrating proud family traditions passed through the generations. Jocelyn describes her recipes as humble yet sophisticated in flavor and influence. Her writing is warm and playful with recipes featuring charming family anecdotes and “Grandbaby Notes,” which are Jocelyn’s personal tips and advice. The first recipe that I tried (excitedly within hours of receiving the book!) was her “German Chocolate Pound Cake,” created in a Bundt pan. She says it’s a “dressed up version” of her father’s favorite cake made by her mother. It had the elements of a traditional pound cake with modern, easy twists in ingredients, flavor and method. My family loved it. There isn’t a cake in the book of 50 that I won’t want to try. To name a few others that especially caught my eye are a light and luscious-looking peach-raspberry layer cake, the “Nana Pudding Tiramisu” sheet cake, crème brulée cupcakes; a sea salt caramel layer cake and some gems that look perfect for the holidays such as the “merry berry Christmas cake.” Thanks, Jocelyn. I look forward to baking and enjoying more of your cakes and expect some of them will become traditions in my own family.

Excellent Recipes! The recipes are detailed and easy to follow. I found this book after making her Carmel cake and everyone loved it so I decided to buy the book. This book has inspired me to start baking more. I love how she incorporated stories about about her family.

This is a very nice cook book. I really enjoy the stories that go along with each recipe. Everyone loved the Kentucky Browned Butter Pound Cake. The Real-Deal Caramel Cake was not a hit. I am anxious to try more of the recipes in this book.

This is one of the best dessert cookbooks I have purchased (and I've collected cookbooks for over 40 years). The recipes are very easy to follow and the photographs and companion stories are delightful. I would recommend this cookbook to everyone who loves to bake or is interested in learning. Jocelyn is an excellent teacher.

This book revolves around the author's family traditions and cake recipes that have been passed down for generations. It is beautifully laid and out bound, and filled with appealing pictures and recipes. I have yet to test any of the recipes, but I will update my review after I have. More than half of the recipes sound amazing! This book is also contains quite a few helpful tips. I'd say that most of the recipes require moderate baking skill.

This is a great cake cookbook. The recipes are easy to follow. The pictures of the cakes make them appear to be mouth watering. The family pictures along with the stories are pleasant and enjoyable.

Ms. Adams warms my heart with all of these beautiful cakes! As I was reading each recipe, they brought back beautiful memories of my Grandmothers and Aunts baking. Some of the cakes remind me of my Mom...I can smell the pound cake baking! Thank you for sharing recipes that take us back to a time in our lives where both the cakes and the memories were wonderful!
