I loved this quickie story. It's pure fantasy fun. You know that friend that wants to know everything about you? That's how I felt about Hailey and Gage.I couldn't enjoy this story more unless I was experiencing it myself. My only complaint would be it was too short because I loved these characters and the insta love that is 6 months in the making.Can't wait for book 2. Yes, it's a standalone but I can't wait for their friends to experience a love like Hailey and Gage.

I read this book a few years back and remembered how much I enjoyed it and decided to do a re-read.This story is about a shy, reserved woman trapped in a strippers body. She and her girlfriends are having a get together and notice a man standing in his window across the way completely naked. He notices her as well but they do not act on their instant attraction to each other. The mystery man, who the girls named Mr Tool, becomes their weekly show. He struts his stuff, while working up the courage to ask her out, and she fantasized about him regularly.Very hot and steamy with some laughs as well. Great family dynamics between Gage and his brothers Dylan and Derrick, and their Mum, Barbara.At the time when I originally read this it was the first in the series and none of the others were out, now there are 4 more. I will definitely be checking them out.

This short novella of only 80 pages or so was a good story, but had so much unrealized potential. The plot would have made for a great full-length book where the reader could get a complete sense of the characters-- as is, it was mostly a sex romp that didn't offer anything special and emphasized the lack of depth. A good read, but not worth the money paid-- admittedly, my fault for not checking the page count before download.

Loved this story. The girlfriends watching the hottie across the way. Sex and the City banter watching Mr. Tool put on a show. He shows he knows his way around his fantasy woman's body and he manages to deal with her "issues" in an interesting way. The hot start and sweet ending make it a great read. Now I want to know what The Warren twins, Derrick and Dylan are doing.

~* 3.5 Stars *~It's innocent, if slightly indecent fun. About as indecent as the shy and a little uptight Hailey Jennison gets, actually. She and her friends get together every Friday night for some very specific girl time. Gathering around the window in her friend's apartment, lights off, snacks and drinks in hand, they look out the window and down into the apartment of the man they refer to as Mr. Tool.The man is smoking hot and has a habit of walking around his apartment barely clothed, sometimes not clothed at all (and aren't those happy nights!), with his lights on and his shades up. Hey, a girl's gotta grab whatever salacious fun she can, right? It's harmless and he's the man of her dreams - literally. Then she goes out to get some more booze for the girl's night and Mr. Tool confronts her about her and her friends' weekly activities.Mr. Tool...Gage for those who actually know him as more than just a bit of man candy, gives Hailey an ultimatum. Either she goes out on a date with him, or he calls the cops and files a complaint about her and her friends' weekly peeping.For six months Gage has been hoping for a chance with Hailey. She had moved out of the complex before he worked up the courage to talk to her, but he caught her and her friends spying on him one night and has gone out of his way to make sure she has plenty to see ever since. True, blackmailing the woman for a date isn't exactly the most gallant thing he's ever done, but it got the job done. Finally. Now, if he can just manage to get through the date without opening his mouth and sticking one or both feet into it.To say Gage is socially awkward around women would be a gross understatement. It makes starting a relationship hard, especially when he is as attracted to a woman as he is Hailey. A little blackmail seems a small matter for his pride, though, if it gets him a shot with Hailey.~*~This deliciously erotic little bit of yumminess was fun for a hot, quick read. The plot was a bit light, and I'm not sure I bought the whole gorgeous-guy-has-to-blackmail-a-girl-for-a-date concept, but the characters were likable and the sex was abundant and hot. Sometimes, that's all I need to be happy with an erotic novella like this.I liked that there was a surprisingly plentiful cast of secondary characters. The length of the story didn't give much room for them to be fleshed out very well, but spending time with Gage's family and Hailey's friends did add a bit of depth to both main characters. Depth that I enjoyed. I was amused by the relationship between Gage and his brothers and mother. Those weekly breakfast/guilt sessions and the sibling ribbings that went on seemed very natural to the characters and situations. I enjoyed them a lot.I wish that Harte had pushed the envelope of Gage's awkwardness around women even further, because he never really struck me that way when he was around Hailey. He certainly wasn't Mr. Charming, but to have built up the level of neurosis he had over his lack of ability to speak to women without saying something wrong, I would have expected him to be much, much worse than he was. Maybe if he'd been even more blunt, or less endearing with his clumsiness, I would have bought into it a bit more.Hailey didn't do much for me, really. She didn't annoy, but she's too familiar as the uptight, tightly wound Type A personality bordering on prissy. The girl with a killer bod and an ice maiden exterior fashioned from her fear of pain. I wish more originality had gone into her character, but she at least held her own.I'm not a fan of the quick-to-love theme in romance, even in erotic novellas. That, for me, was the bigger issue with the story. I wish the romance had been given a longer lead time, even if it had been in condensed form. I also would have liked a meatier plot, and I'm no fan of relationship conflict that's nothing more than a failure to communicate, as it was here. Those are the things that held me back from completely liking what I read.It was hot, though, I'll say that. And I do have a soft spot for the themes of unrequited love (or lust) and love (lust) from afar, like Gage had for Hailey. He was kind of geeky-cute with his affections and I enjoyed that aspect very much. For a quick read that will definitely raise a gal's body temp, I'd recommend this one, but I personally would have liked more story and a less annoying conflict.~*~*~*~Reviewed for One Good Book Deserves Another.

Lord, this books starts off with a bang and does not stop! It's just one enjoyable, sexy time after another. It helps that Gage and Hailey are too cute together that you can't help but hope that it all ends well. Enjoy this book. I'm ready to read the next in the series now!

The book was good,it had humor and I really like them as a couple .might not read the 3 rd book.of the series. I don't know where it's going with the one twin being bi is not what I want to read about .

Ok this book was so short, and the characters weren't developed enough. Very unrealistic they were in love after like 1 date. But the book did have some good parts: it was super sweet, had an alpha male, and some pretty hot sex scenes.

I don't normally go out of my way to write critical or bland reviews for books on Amazon, since I'm also an author and understand the hard work that goes into producing content and marketing it. And my gripe with this isn't the author's fault, so the content itself is FIVE stars, hands down!However, the publisher really dropped the ball on the Kindle formatting with this release, and by the looks of the reviews, the print version as well.First, the good:I LOVE the Passion Translation, and to date have bought almost every single Kindle book Brian Simmons has produced, often times at the same price as "full length" books, just because I think his work is valuable and a great service to the Body of Christ. When I first saw the entire New Testament and Psalms, Proverbs, and Song of Solomon in one book instead of having to have a bunch of different files on my Kindle in order to access passages in the TPT, I was excited and pre-ordered it.The bad:Once I finally got my hands on it, I started reading Song of Solomon and didn't notice the glaring navigation problems until I thought I'd check some segments out of John 14, 15, and 16 for a small study I was doing on passages from those chapters. I couldn't believe a digital Bible would neglect to include a way to easily navigate to the individual chapters of each NT book from the TOC menu. So, if you want to read a specific chapter out of the Psalms for example, you have to go to the beginning of it and swipe forward until you get to the chapter you want. Or I suppose go to Proverbs and swipe back. Either way, a time waster if you just wanted to open it up and read later in a book or reference something from it.Either way, I'm surprised this made its way onto Amazon with this major oversight. When this is fixed I'll adjust my review and publicly give it the five stars it otherwise deserves.

I already LOVED the Passion Translation and had been buying the individual books on kindle as they were released - now I love the actual print copy too. I was so excited when the whole New Testament + was complete and pre-ordered it months in advance. However, when it finally came I was a bit disappointed by the quality. The pages were so thin that it was very difficult to read in anything but perfect lighting--and a bit challenging even then. I was still grateful to have all of it in one book, so I made do and continued to devour it. BUT when I learned a 2nd edition was being released that fixed these issues, I jumped on it again. Given the transformational impact of this beautiful translation and the reasonable cost for the hardbound version, I was happy to pay for another copy. Now I will enjoy it even more! Kudos to the publishers for recognizing the problems and making the changes quickly.

This review is not a reflection on the translation. Though I would that our loving brother and minister gave priority to the Majority Text over the Critical Text, this version is still a blessing & I can still find value in it.I have the complete paper back collection & it’s Kindle companions.I also have some of Brian Simmons other books which are a blessing as well.Concerning this new Bible bound in Black Imitation Leather:The binding is Smyth Sewn and ok for the price.The Imitation Leather is actually pretty nice and soft.This Bible lays relatively flat at about 70 pgs in.It is a paste down liner & appears more on the cheap side (expected for this price.)I really love it’s size; it is a Hand Size Bible for sure. Thinner than a Clarion but slightly taller by about an inch with the width being about a half-inch wider.The paper appears to be less than a 28gsm; not sure exactly but it is very thin.***It is not line matched.***The paper quality is really subpar and thus the ghosting is so pronounced it makes this production of the tPt Translation unreadable.(Some pages are not bad, while other pages are really bad.)I would of preferred a slightly thicker Bible with better paper.But you can get a nice 28gsm with Line Matching for this same thickness IMO.It’s more the quality of the paper process that the paper goes through v. the gsm.The Line Matching can make all the difference with 32gsm or lower and still is such a blessing for the 36gsm Bibles.So I like the translation as a back up translation to use on top of a Solid Literal Translation, but again the paper quality for this current production is really bad and makes it unreadable.I do not understand how this can make it past the quality control check.I have $25-30 Bibles (slightly less) that have much better paper than this.I would love to see another attempt made with Line Matching and Better Paper.I would purchase one for sure.My apologies with the shadows in the pictures; thank you all for reading. :)

While I have been waiting for about 7 months for this (and ordered 2 additional copies for my friends) I have to admit I am really sad and disappointed with the quality. The font is very small, but what is worse if that the pages are so thin, not only can you read the back of the page through the one you are looking at, but you can clearly read the next page through the page you are on. This is highly distracting and makes it almost impossible to focus.I have waited so long for this to come out, and was so excited to open my box, but the font and see-through page issue is very very disappointing. I have to put a blank paper under the page I am on in order to read it. This is a little help, but only a little.Thant being said, I am confident that it is going to be amazing, and I hope that a correction to these conditions comes out soon. I would much rather the book be larger and thicker to make up for the font and page visibility issue.

Joanne B. Freeman’s Affairs of Honor: National Politics in the New Republic uses the framework of honor culture to explore the underlying motives that drove the founding generation’s decisions during the first three presidencies of the Early Republic. Freedman draws heavily upon social and political history and relies on close readings of the Founders’ own writing in order to reframe the work in a seventeenth and eighteenth century mindset free of twenty-first century biases.Freeman argues that, amid the chaos of the Early Republic, “the culture of honor was a source of stability in this contested landscape” (xv). Honor’s “ethic limited and defined acceptable behavior; its rites and rituals displayed superiority of character through time-honored traditions recognized the world over” (xv). Honor helped shape social relationships in a country without an aristocracy. Freeman defines honor as a public presentation, writing, “Honor was entirely other-directed, determined before the eyes of the world; it did not exist unless bestowed by others. Indeed, a man of honor was defined by the respect that he received in public” (xvi). Freeman structures her book into five case studies examining different aspects of honor. In the first, she uses a close reading of Pennsylvania Senator William Maclay’s public diary to demonstrate how politicians used public perceptions of honor to garner political clout with their constituents. The second case study examines the role of gossip in shaping concepts of honor and how it could challenge or reinforce a person’s public persona. The third case study uses this same methodology to examine what Freeman terms “paper war,” the use of public and private letters, newspaper publications, broadsides, and other written matter to define the limits of honor (105). Freeman’s fourth case study focuses on dueling, the most potent demonstration of honor. Finally, Freeman reinterprets the election of 1800 through the lens of honor in her final case study.In her first case study, Freeman writes of the role of honor in congressional oratory, “Given the importance of reputation, an attack on a man’s honor was the ultimate trump card…When honor was at stake, all else fell by the wayside, for a man’s sense of self and possibly his life were at risk” (28). Despite the usefulness of such an attack, it had its own hazards. As Freeman writes, “An insult to a man’s honor was a dangerous weapon that could explode in one’s face” (29). Those who engaged in too much vitriol or attacked persons of sound reputations might lose face themselves for such a loss of composure. In her second case study, Freeman argues that gossip served as a tool for sizing up political enemies and forming political alliances (66). Gossip relied on honest transmitters of gossip in order to have weight. Freeman writes, “A truthful man could be trusted; a liar was weak, untrustworthy, and inferior – in sum, he was no gentleman. To give the ‘lie direct’ was equivalent to striking a man: it became an immediate justification for a challenge to a duel” (67). Politicians linked their reputation to their political successes and alliances. Freeman writes, “In this highly political realm, an attack on a government measure was an attack on a politician, and an attack on a politician immediately questioned his honor and reputation” (69). This system served to unite politicians in a time before formal political parties. Unlike gossip, paper war posed a greater threat to its wielder as they committed their thoughts to the more permanent medium of print. Freeman writes, "A signed attack bore the clout of its writer’s reputation but risked it by thrusting him into the public eye. Unsigned publications offered the safety of anonymity, but without the authority of a name they had less power. A poor choice of medium could backfire…Hence the ongoing stream of letters from men seeking advice on paper war" (113). The authors sought to present themselves as gentlemen, thus leading to their dilemmas in engaging in print war. Freeman writes, “A gentleman was always true to his word; such was the very definition of gentleman. It was the central importance of truth telling to genteel status that made ‘giving the lie’ an insult grievous enough to demand a duel” (128). More to the point, “Print combatants often adopted the language of the duel” in their publications and counter-publications (132). Duels, naturally, were the purest manifestation of honor, though even they had rules to ensure the honor of combatants. Freeman writes, “…To early national politicians, duels were demonstrations of manner, not marksmanship; they were intricate games of dare and counterdare, ritualized displays of bravery, military prowess, and – above all – willingness to sacrifice one’s life for one’s honor. A man’s response to the threat of gunplay bore far more meaning than the exchange of fire itself” (167). The duelist who accepted a challenge thus proved himself worthy of political leadership (170). Finally, Freeman argues that Aaron Burr’s unwillingness to concede defeat and the political machinations that decided the election of 1800 all resulted from the interplay of these ideas of honor.Freeman bases her study on “thousands of letters, diaries, pamphlets, newspaper essays, and other assorted writings by roughly three hundred national political figures, their families, and friends” (292). Freeman benefited from the support and scholarship of Bertram Wyatt-Brown, author of one of the definitive volumes on honor culture, in her work. Freeman’s methodology borrows from Clifford Geertz’s methodology of cultural anthropology, especially in how she works to recapture the thoughts and emotions of her subjects and eschew twenty-first century understandings of honor culture.

This is a fascinating look at the early republic from almost a purely emotional point of view--specifically, the culture of honor that was intrinsic to gentlemen at the time (but which is pretty damned foreign to most people now). I now know the nuances involved in caning, spitting, and dueling, although I fortunately have little cause to use them in my daily life.I stumbled onto this book while researching something entirely different and was hooked. I'm so glad. For one, it's engaging, and although I'm over the Revolution of 1800 (see further: Election of 2000), Professor Freeman manages to put a new spin on it.Minor quibbles: the organization is a bit on the odd side (this may be a result of the topic itself, which is not particularly linear) and it does drag toward the end, but if you're interested in American history and politics (or American historical politics), I recommend it.

Freeman's survey of early American politics illustrates the discomforting fact that things don't change. When we hear of the bantering, lying, and mischief that occurs in contemporary politics we like to think back to a time when things were different. A time when things were simpler, issues were black and white, and politicians were men of principle and honor. Like, say, those men active in the early American Republic. With the exception of a few practices such as dueling (affairs of honor), antiquated media outlets, and the universal acceptance of "personal reputation as the currency of national politics" (one could now argue that currency is the currency of national politics), politicking hasn't changed much in two hundred years. The author sums it up best with a quotation from the period, "The man of honor does not care if he stinks, but he does care that someone has accused him of stinking."The politics of early America are detailed through the examination events, contemporaneous media, and journals. With this review of the past one fact can be determined over all others; politicians of early America, no matter their party affiliation, financial wealth, or the issues that form there time in office, held their own honor above all else. Given the information provided in the book, Freeman's assertion about "personal reputation" mentioned above is certainly accurate. Honor was the prized possession of any man, but especially that of the politician, due to the social changes that took place at the conclusion of the Revolution. When the war ended, so did the social hierarchical norm that consisted of aristocracy, heritage, land ownership (to a certain extent), and military prestige. Men in early America were left with little else but their reputation from which to hang their hat.The author provides the reader with the information necessary to understand why men were willing to duel at the drop of an insult and how the federal government was able to pass such an overreaching law as the Sedition Act (making it seditious to print libels against the government). After all, it was a mans duty to defend his reputation. While jockeying for position in a new federal government, these men had to balance their reputation, political affiliation, and local personas. It makes for interesting reading no doubt. The book is well written and researched. However, there are several areas that become difficult to follow (due mostly to chronology) and others that seem mundane and repetitive. Otherwise, excellent book.
